Frederick W. Bryant

Frederick W. Bryant

Frederick W. Bryant, along with his son Tom, is a founding member of The Bryant Law Firm. Fred has spent his 30-year career representing injured individuals in personal injury matters and injured workers in workers' compensation matters.


Though Fred is the son of a career Marine, he is a Kansas Citian. His family settled in Kansas City in the late 60s after his father retired from the Marine Corps following serving in Vietnam. Fred graduated high school from Hickman Mills High School and attended college at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), where he obtained his B.A. degree in Political Science. He was a co-recipient of the department's highest honor, the Cornelius Roach Scholarship. Fred went to law school at UMKC, where he graduated with distinction in 1982 and served on their Moot Court board.


Fred was with the firm of Rubins, Kase, Hager, Cambiano & Bryant upon graduating from law school until leaving in January of 2012 with his son to form the Bryant Law Firm. Fred is a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, where he is a member of the Workers Compensation Committee.

As a member of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, he was elected to the Board of Governors in 2005 and continues to serve in that capacity. He is a member of the American Association of Justice, a national organization dedicated to the rights of injured individuals in the civil justice system. Fred is a Missouri State Delegate to that organization. Fred is also a member of the Workers Injury Law & Advocacy Group.


AAJ's National College of Advocacy has recognized Fred as a Trial Advocate. Fred co-authored, with Arthur Kase, a chapter in the KCMBA Young Lawyers Section on Automobile Accidents entitled "Intersectional Collisions."


Fred is a member of the Volunteer Attorney Project of Legal Aid of Western Missouri. He volunteers his time representing disadvantaged individuals who require legal assistance but cannot afford it. Fred was awarded the Missouri Bar's Pro Bono Award in 2001 for his work in this area.


On a personal level, Fred has served as a Trustee of the Kansas City Museum, Secretary of the Kansas City Chapter of UNICO, President of the Northeast Kansas City Optimist Club, and a Holy Cross School Board and Finance Council member. Fred recently served as a member of the Kansas City Museum's Advisory Board appointed by the Mayor and City Council to oversee the renovation of Corinthian Hall.


Fred and his wife Carmeline have been married since 1978 and have been blessed with three children and five grandchildren, all of whom reside in Kansas City.



Thomas P. Bryant

Along with his father, Fred, Tom Bryant is a founding member of The Bryant Law Firm. Tom practices in personal injury litigation for individuals and workers' compensation for the injured worker.


Tom is a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri. He attended college at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he received several awards for outstanding scholarship, including an award from the Arts and Science Department for Academic Excellence. While at UMKC, Tom was selected and became a member of the Golden Key, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Order of Omega National Honor Societies.


Tom attended law school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, graduating with distinction in 2005. During law school, Tom served as Vice President of Finance for the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys Student Chapter. During college and law school, Tom served as a clerk and law clerk with Rubins, Kase, Hager, Cambiano & Bryant, a firm in which his father was a partner. Following law school, Tom worked alongside his father as an associate at RKHC&B, where he represented individuals in personal injury and workers' compensation matters. Tom had always enjoyed working with his father, and their dream of starting their law firm was realized in January of 2012 when The Bryant Law Firm was formed.

Thomas P. Bryant

Tom has handled civil and workers' compensation matters from trial through the appellate process in Kansas and Missouri. He continues to focus his practice in these areas. Tom speaks at continuing legal education seminars, where he frequently lectures on workers' compensation matters. He recently presented on several workers' compensation issues, including exclusive remedy exceptions, the statute of limitations, independent contractor status, and the use of independent medical examinations.


Tom is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, Clay County Bar Association, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, and American Association of Justice. Tom is licensed to practice law in both Missouri and Kansas.


Tom and his wife Paula make their home in Kansas City, Missouri, with their two children.

Betsy Ballard

Counsel to the Firm

Betsy practices in the area of Social Security Disability law and Workers' Compensation law. She received her Juris Doctorate from University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 2005. She worked for 15 years as an associate at the Law Offices of Sharon J. Meyers before joining the Bryant Law Firm as an of counsel attorney in 2021. Betsy is a member of the Missouri Bar and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.


A life-long resident of the Kansas City area, Betsy received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Kansas in 2002.  She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, walking the dogs, and volunteering. Betsy is active in her church, as well as many local community organizations.
